The difference between high chromium alloy hammer and high manganese steel hammer

1. Material composition
   The high chromium alloy hammer is mainly composed of alloy elements such as chromium, carbon, molybdenum, and vanadium. The addition of these elements significantly improves the hardness and wear resistance of the hammer. The matrix hardness of high chromium alloy is usually between HRC58-65, and the hardness can reach HRC60 or above after heat treatment on the surface.
   The high manganese steel hammer is mainly composed of elements such as manganese and carbon, and its manganese content is usually between 11% and 14%. High manganese steel has good toughness and can withstand large impact forces, but its wear resistance is relatively poor.
2. Wear resistance
   Due to the addition of a large amount of chromium and other alloy elements to the high chromium alloy hammer, a dense layer of carbide is formed on its surface, which has extremely high hardness and wear resistance. Therefore, the high chromium alloy hammer is superior to the high manganese steel hammer in wear resistance, and is especially suitable for crushing hard and abrasive materials.
   Although the high manganese steel hammer is not as wear-resistant as the high chromium alloy hammer, it has good toughness and can absorb impact energy, reduce the stress concentration generated during the crushing process, and thus extend the service life of the hammer.
3. Scope of application
   The high chromium alloy hammer is suitable for crushing hard and abrasive materials, such as quartzite, basalt, iron ore, etc. Due to its high hardness and good wear resistance, it is widely used in mining, metallurgy, building materials and other industries.
   The high manganese steel hammer is suitable for crushing materials with medium hardness or below, such as coal, limestone, gypsum, etc. Due to its good toughness and ability to withstand large impact forces, it is widely used in the power, chemical and other industries.
4. Cost and Maintenance
   Due to its material and manufacturing process, the cost of high chromium alloy hammer is relatively high. However, it has good wear resistance and long service life, so the cost per unit time is relatively low during long-term use.
   High manganese steel hammer has low cost, but its wear resistance is relatively poor and its service life is short, so it needs frequent replacement and maintenance, and the long-term use cost may be high.

High chromium alloy hammer and high manganese steel hammer have their own advantages and disadvantages. When choosing, users should consider factors such as the nature of the actual crushed material, production needs, and cost budget. High chromium alloy hammer is suitable for crushing hard and abrasive materials, with good wear resistance and long service life; while high manganese steel hammer is suitable for crushing materials below medium hardness, with good toughness and able to withstand greater impact.
