The Critical Role of Installation and Commissioning

1. Precise Installation: Dies must be installed strictly in accordance with the equipment manual to ensure precise positioning. The clearance between the dies and other crusher components must meet standard requirements. Excessive or insufficient clearance can affect the dies’ performance. For example, excessive clearance can cause the dies to wobble during operation, increasing wear; while insufficient clearance can cause frictional overheating and damage the dies. 2. Commissioning and Optimization: After installation, the crusher must be commissioned. Adjust crushing chamber parameters, such as the discharge opening size and mesh angle. An appropriate discharge opening controls the material discharge speed and particle size, preventing excessive material compression on the teeth. A proper mesh angle ensures more uniform force on the teeth during crushing, reducing localized wear.

1. Controlling feed size: The material feed size should be within the design tolerances of the crusher’s teeth. Excessive feed size can subject the teeth to excessive impact, causing surface damage, deformation, or even breakage. Pre-processing the material before feeding, such as coarse crushing, can effectively control the feed size.
2. Uniform feeding: Uniform feeding ensures even force on the teeth during operation. Uneven feeding can cause excessive force on the teeth, accelerating wear. Using appropriate feeding equipment, such as a vibrating feeder, can achieve uniform feeding. 3. Avoid Overload Operation: Prolonged overload operation of the crusher will subject the teeth to pressure beyond their design, leading to increased wear and even serious damage. Install an overload protection device to automatically shut down or adjust the feed rate when the equipment’s operating load exceeds the set value to protect the teeth.

Daily Maintenance and Care

1. Regular Inspection: Regularly inspect the teeth for wear and tear to identify areas of severe wear or cracks. For example, perform a weekly visual inspection to check for visible wear and flaking on the teeth. Perform a monthly comprehensive inspection, including flaw detection of the internal structure of the teeth, to ensure there are no potential damage.
2. Timely Repair and Replacement: Minor wear of the teeth can be restored to their original shape and size through repair processes such as cladding. However, when the teeth are worn to a certain extent, such as exceeding one-third of their original thickness, or when irreparable cracks develop, they should be replaced promptly to prevent excessive wear from affecting crushing performance and causing other equipment failures.
3. Cleaning and Lubrication: Keep the surface of the teeth clean to prevent residual material from corroding the teeth. At the same time, regularly lubricate the contact areas between the teeth and other moving parts to reduce friction and slow wear.

Strategies for Addressing Material Characteristics

1. For high-hardness materials: In addition to selecting teeth of appropriate material, pre-treat the material before crushing. For example, heating or water quenching can be used to modify the material’s physical properties, reduce its hardness, and minimize wear on the teeth.
2. For corrosive materials: Select a tooth material with corrosion resistance, such as adding a corrosion-resistant coating to ordinary teeth. Also, after the crushing operation, promptly clean the equipment and teeth to prevent the accumulation of corrosive substances.

Extending the service life of the crusher’s teeth requires a comprehensive approach, including model selection, installation and commissioning, standardized operating procedures, routine maintenance, and addressing material characteristics. Only through a comprehensive approach can the life of the teeth be maximized, creating higher economic benefits for the enterprise.
