Ball mill lining is a protective material installed on the inner wall of the ball mill. Its main function is to protect the cylinder from direct impact and wear of grinding media and materials, and to extend the service life of the ball mill. Ball mill lining can be divided into many types according to its shape, structure and material characteristics. Reasonable selection and use of lining can improve grinding efficiency, reduce energy consumption and ensure stable operation of the ball mill.
Classification by shape and structure
Flat liner
The surface is smooth, relying on the friction between the grinding body to lift the material, suitable for fine grinding bin to finely grind the material
Features: uniform wear, but limited lifting height.
Strip liner & ridge liner
The surface is equipped with raised strips or ridges, used for coarse grinding bin (such as the first bin).
Function: Increase the impact force of the grinding body and improve the crushing efficiency.
Step liner
The stepped structure can evenly lift the grinding body and reduce sliding wear. It is suitable for the crushing bin and significantly improves the grinding efficiency.
Wave liner
The wavy surface design is specially used for baseball mills to optimize the movement trajectory of the grinding body15.
Grading liner
The unique inclined design allows the steel balls to be automatically graded according to size (large balls are close to the feed end), improving grinding accuracy and reducing over-crushing.
Groove liner
The surface has arc-shaped grooves to enhance the meshing effect on the material. It is suitable for the first and second bins of multi-bin mills.
Hemispherical lining plate
The hemispherical raised structure enhances the kinetic energy of the grinding body and improves the crushing efficiency, which is suitable for crushing high-hardness materials.
Classification by material
Metal lining plate
High manganese steel/high chromium cast iron: extremely wear-resistant (HRC45-55 or above), high temperature resistant, lifespan up to 1 year, suitable for dry grinding or high impact conditions.
Alloy steel (such as silicon-chromium-molybdenum alloy): more wear-resistant and high-temperature resistant than manganese steel, especially suitable for crushing high-hardness materials.
Rubber lining plate
Advantages: wear-resistant, acid-resistant, good elasticity, can buffer impact and reduce noise, suitable for wet grinding environment.
Limitations: not resistant to high temperature (>80℃).
Composite lining plate
The composite design of rubber and alloy steel takes into account both elasticity and rigidity, solves the contradiction between toughness and wear resistance of a single material, and prolongs the overall life.
Summary of core functions
Protect the cylinder: isolate the direct impact of materials and steel balls to prevent cylinder wear.
Optimize grinding efficiency: Improve the grinding quality by adjusting the grinding body movement trajectory (such as lifting height, impact angle).
Adapt to different working conditions: For example, choose metal lining for high temperature environment, rubber lining for corrosive environment, and composite lining for high impact condition.
