High manganese steel
A wear-resistant alloy steel with special processing hardening properties. Typical grades include Mn13, Mn18, etc. Its core characteristic lies in having a relatively low initial hardness (approximately HB200), but with extremely high impact toughness (ak ≥ 150J/cm²); when subjected to intense impact or compression, the surface layer of the material will undergo deformation-induced martensitic phase transformation, resulting in a rapid increase in hardness to above HB500, forming a hard and wear-resistant surface, while the core remains with good toughness. This “the harder it is impacted, the harder it becomes” characteristic makes it particularly suitable for ball mill liners, crusher jaw plates, etc., which are subjected to high-intensity impact and wear conditions. It performs exceptionally well in large equipment in the mining, metallurgy, and construction materials industries. By adding alloy elements such as chromium and molybdenum, its quenching and wear resistance can be further enhanced.
